Pastor Vincent L. Golden, Sr. was born in Jackson, Tennessee.  He graduated from West High School in 1985 and enrolled in Jackson State Community College. He is married to Sonia Golden and they are the parents of four daughters and one son.

Pastor Golden is a bi-vocational pastor and has worked for the Target Corporation for more than 22 years. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1994 under the leadership of Rev. Ronald Bowens at the Friendship Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. While there he served as a youth group leader, organizing the group “From Boys to Men” in 1995.

In 1996 Pastor Golden answered God’s call to preach the Gospel of Jesus the Christ and in 1997 he was licensed by the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church. He was co-founder and associate minister of the Triune Missionary Baptist Church and was ordained there under the leadership of Reverend Gregory Mason.  While at Triune, Pastor Golden organized several different ministries. Pastor Golden moved to Columbus, Ohio in 2003 and associate minister of the Springhill Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Tommy L. Hicklin.

In 2004 Pastor Golden was sent by God to Pastor the New Zion Baptist Church. In May of 2006 Pastor Golden graduated from the United Bible College & Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida with a Bachelor’s Degree in Biblical Studies. In December 2015 Pastor Golden graduated from the United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio with a Master’s Degree of Divinity. He is currently enrolled at the United Theological Seminary to obtain his Doctor of Ministry degree with a concentration in Christian and Ministry Leadership.

Pastor Golden has taken his calling from God seriously. His heart’s desire and sincere prayer is to preach, teach, and minister God’s Holy Word on a level that all people can understand. After taking on the responsibility of becoming the Pastor of the New Zion Baptist Church, he was committed to building a ministry that met the total needs of his parishioners as well as the community. Pastor Golden is a member of several ministries at the local and national level including the Baptist Ministerial Alliance of Columbus, the Baptist Pastor’s Conference of Columbus and Vicinity, the Ohio Baptist General Convention and the National Baptist Convention, USA, Inc. In August 2016 he was installed as Moderator of the Eastern Union Missionary Baptist Association and continues to serve in that capacity.

In 2015, one of the most fascinating things happened in Pastor Golden’s ministry – he led the organized union of two sister churches – the Mt. Vernon Avenue Baptist Church and the New Zion Baptist Church and he is the pastor of the combined churches, the Unity Baptist Church of Columbus. By the divine order of God this union has enhanced and strengthened the spiritual lives of the members of both churches, as well as the Columbus Christian community at large. Pastor Golden believes that with the two churches uniting it will result in a ministry where all involved can work even more diligently to build the Kingdom of God. Pastor Golden sees Unity Baptist Church as a vibrant church striving for a closer walk with the Lord, and that through discipleship and biblical sound preaching and teaching he will equip the saints for effective evangelism throughout the city, state, nation and world. His vision is to develop a diverse congregation committed to God and His plan for their lives; a stronger worship experience through the word of God; and a Child Day Care Center and Senior Care Facility that will bless the church and community.
