Pastor
Pastor Vincent L. Golden, Sr. was born in Jackson, Tennessee. He graduated from West High School in 1985 and enrolled in Jackson State Community College. He is married to Sonia Golden and they are the parents of four daughters and one son.
Pastor Golden is a bi-vocational pastor and has worked for the Target Corporation for more than 22 years. He was ordained as a Deacon in 1994 under the leadership of Rev. Ronald Bowens at the Friendship Baptist Church in Atlanta, Georgia. While there he served as a youth group leader, organizing the group “From Boys to Men” in 1995.
In 1996 Pastor Golden answered God’s call to preach the Gospel of Jesus the Christ. He was licensed in 1997 by the New Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, and in October of 1999, he was ordained while serving at the Triune Missionary Baptist Church. He was Co-Founder and Associate Minister while serving at the Triune Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Gregory Mason. Pastor Golden organized several different ministries. After moving to Ohio in 2003, he served as Associate Minister of the Springhill Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Tommy L. Hicklin. In 2004 Pastor Golden was sent by God to Pastor the New Zion Baptist Church.
Pastor Golden graduated from United Bible Theological Seminary in Orlando, Florida, in May 2006 with a Bachelor's Degree in Biblical Studies; Pastor Golden graduated on December 18, 2016, from The United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, with a Master’s degree of Divinity. Pastor Golden graduated in May 2021 from The United Theological Seminary in Dayton, Ohio, with a Doctoral Degree of Ministry.
Dr. Golden has taken his calling from God seriously. His heart’s desire and sincere prayer is to preach, teach,
and minister God’s Holy Word on a level that all people can understand. After taking on the responsibility of
becoming the Pastor of New Zion Baptist Church, he was committed to building a ministry at New Zion that
meets the total needs of his parishioners, as well as the community. Dr. Golden serves in several ministries in
the city as well as the state. He is currently serving as the Second Vice-president for the Baptist Pastors
Conference of Columbus and Vicinity. He is the Parliamentary for the Baptist Ministerial Alliance of Columbus
and Vicinity; He serves as The Moderator of the Eastern Union Missionary Baptist Association and the Vice
President of the Ohio Baptist General State Convention.
In 2015 one of the most fascinating things happened in his ministry. Dr. Golden was very instrumental in a
merge with two sister churches, Mt Vernon Ave. Baptist Church & New Zion Baptist Church merged. Dr. Golden now pastors the two churches, which have become one church, The Unity Baptist Church of Columbus. With this divine order of God, this merge has enhanced and strengthened the Columbus Christian community, members, and the churches at large. Dr. Golden believes, with these two churches uniting, it will provide a setting where all involved can work even more diligently to build the Kingdom of God. Dr. Golden sees Unity as a vibrant church striving for a closer walk with the Lord through discipleship, evangelism, biblical sound preaching, and teaching that will equip the saints for effective evangelism throughout the city and world.
